Business Central Shopify connector configured around your store
The Business Central Shopify connector is Microsoft's own app for linking a Shopify store to your ERP. It comes ready in Business Central online. We set it up for your products, inventory, customers, orders, fulfillment and payouts. We test each flow in a sandbox against a development store. Then we train the people who will watch it.

What the Business Central Shopify connector does
Microsoft builds and maintains the connector. It ships as part of Business Central, so you buy no third-party middleware. It moves data both ways. Items and prices go out to Shopify as products. Stock levels follow. Orders, customers and payment data come back in, and staff process them like any other sale.
A Shopify Shop Card represents each store. Nearly every behavior is set there. One Business Central company can serve several shops. Each has its own settings. That suits brands with separate storefronts for different markets. It also suits one shop for wholesale and one for retail.

Business Central Shopify connector: products and stock
The first decision is which system owns the catalog. Most companies manage items in Business Central and export them. So you maintain descriptions, variants, prices and pictures once. Others already have a rich store and import products to create items. We set the direction and map item variants to Shopify options.
Prices can follow a customer price group and include or exclude tax as the store requires. For stock, you choose which Business Central locations feed each Shopify location. You also choose the calculation. So the store shows what you can really ship, not what merely sits on the shelf.

Business Central Shopify connector orders to posted invoice
Imported orders land first in a Shopify orders list. There, mapping rules check them. Only then does the system create a sales order or invoice. Shipping charges, discounts, gift cards and tips each need an account or item to post to. We also map shipping methods and payment methods to their Business Central equivalents.
Customer handling is a choice as well. For example, every buyer can become a customer record. Or all consumer orders can post to one default customer by country. That keeps the customer list manageable. When the warehouse posts a shipment, the connector sends the fulfillment and tracking number back, and Shopify notifies the buyer.

- ✓Default or individual customers
- ✓Tax area assignment
- ✓Refund and return handling
Payouts, refunds and reconciliation
Finance teams care most about tying the store's deposits to the books. The connector brings in payment transactions and Shopify Payments payouts. So you can trace each bank deposit back to the orders and fees inside it. We set up the accounts for fees and design the reconciliation steps with your accountant.
The connector imports refunds and returns too. Depending on settings, they can make credit memos. Sales tax needs care. First, Shopify calculates tax at checkout. Business Central must then post the same amount to the right jurisdiction. We test orders from several states and compare both systems line by line.
Sort out store reconciliation →- ✓Payout matched to bank deposit
- ✓Processing fees posted
- ✓Refunds as credit memos
- ✓Sales tax amounts agree
- ✓Gift card liability tracked
How we roll out the Business Central Shopify connector
First, we connect a Business Central sandbox to a Shopify development store. Then we run every scenario you sell through. That means a plain order, a discount code, a partial shipment, a refund and a business customer. Only when finance and the warehouse are both satisfied do we connect the real store and schedule the synchronization jobs.
Common pitfalls are duplicate products from a careless first sync. Others are stock from the wrong location and orders stuck on a missing mapping. We leave a daily checklist for the person who watches the orders list. An extension can meet B2B needs beyond the standard connector.
Schedule a connector setup →- ✓Sandbox and development store
- ✓Scenario testing with finance
- ✓Controlled first product sync
- ✓Live store connection
- ✓Daily monitoring checklist
Business Central Shopify connector FAQ
Is the Shopify connector included with Business Central?
Yes. It is a Microsoft app that comes with Business Central online at no separate charge from Microsoft. You need your Shopify plan. You also need Business Central licenses for the staff who process the orders. Nothing else sits in between. So you do not pay for a middle tool. Still, we advise a test store first. It is safe and easy to set up.
Can one Business Central company connect to several Shopify stores?
Yes. Each store gets its own Shopify Shop Card with separate settings for products, locations, customers and accounts. This works well for companies with different storefronts by brand or region, or a separate wholesale store.
How often does data synchronize?
Job queue entries run synchronization on schedules you choose. You can also start any sync by hand. In practice, orders and inventory run often. In contrast, products and customers can run less often. We tune the timing to your order volume.
Does it support Shopify B2B?
The connector supports Shopify's B2B companies and catalogs. These need certain Shopify plans. We check what your plan offers and configure company and price synchronization to match your wholesale terms in Business Central.
What if we need something the connector does not do?
The Business Central Shopify connector is open to extension. Microsoft publishes events that let an AL extension add fields or adjust behavior without replacing the app. We build such extensions when a requirement is real and lasting, and keep them small.
