Business Central training built around each role

Business central training works best when people practice their own job in their own system. We train by role, in a sandbox copy of your company, using your customers, items and documents. Sessions are short, run by screen share during US business hours, and end with exercises people complete before the next one.

📅When to train

When a team needs Business Central training

The obvious moment is before go-live. By then, the system is set up and people can learn the finished process. Train too early and the screens change afterwards. Train the week of cutover and nobody has time to practice. We aim for the gap between the two. It is close enough to remember.

Training is just as useful later. New hires learn from colleagues who learned from someone else. So habits drift. A company that went live some time ago often gains more from a refresher than from any new feature. People find functions they already own.

👥Who learns what

Role-based Business Central training tracks

Each role gets its own track. Accounts payable learns purchase invoices, payment journals and vendor reconciliation. Sales order staff learn quotes, orders, shipping and returns. Warehouse staff learn receipts, put-aways, picks and counts. They use the screens or handhelds they will use for real. Each track follows the documents through from start to finish.

Controllers and finance managers cover the chart of accounts, dimensions, financial reports and the period close. Administrators cover users, permission sets, environments and job queues. They also learn how to read an error before they raise a ticket. Nobody sits through a track that is not theirs. Small teams can combine tracks.

🖥How sessions run

How we run a session

A session starts with the process on one slide. Then it moves straight into the sandbox. The trainer does the task once. Then each participant does it while sharing their own screen. Mistakes are welcome. Fixing a wrong posting is part of the job.

We teach the tools that make people independent: search, filters, saved views, analysis mode on lists, Edit in Excel and the built-in help pane. Someone who can find a page and filter a list needs far fewer support tickets afterwards. These skills apply on every page, whatever the role.

📘What stays behind

Materials your team keeps

Each track leaves behind a short guide written for your setup. The screenshots show your own account numbers, document types and approval steps. Generic manuals are of little use once a system has been set up for one company. Ours show the screens your people will open on Monday.

We can record sessions for people who join later. We also prepare a small set of practice exercises with expected results. So a new starter can work through them alone in the sandbox. They compare the outcome before they touch live data. We update the exercises when your setup changes.

🙅What fails

Why some training does not stick

Training fails when it is a demonstration. People watch a consultant click through a perfect order and agree it looks fine. Then they forget it by Friday. Hands on the keyboard, with data they recognize, is what makes a process stay in memory. So we build every session around practice.

It also fails when only one key user gets trained. Then that person must teach everyone else while doing a full job. We can train your key users to train others. But we plan the time for it. We also give them the materials to do it properly.

Common failures
  • ✓Demonstration without practice
  • ✓Generic sample data
  • ✓All roles in one room
  • ✓One overloaded key user
  • ✓No follow-up session
Questions

Business Central training questions

Is Business Central training delivered on site or remotely?

Remotely, by screen share. Participants join from their own desks and work in your sandbox while the trainer watches and helps. Remote sessions are easier to keep short and spread out, which suits people who still have daily work to finish.

Do you use our data or a demo company?

Your data, in a sandbox copy of your company. People learn faster when the customers, items and account numbers are familiar. The standard demo company is useful only for exploring a module you have not configured yet.

Can you train a company that another firm implemented?

Yes. First, we spend time learning your setup, extensions and the way you configured your processes. So the training reflects what your users will really see. Where we notice setup problems along the way, we list them for you separately.

Does Microsoft offer free Business Central training content?

Yes. Microsoft Learn has free learning paths and modules for Business Central, and the in-product help pane links to them. They teach the standard product well. Our sessions add your own configuration, your processes and live practice with a trainer.

How many people should attend one session?

Small groups from the same role work best. Everyone gets to share a screen and complete the task. Large mixed groups turn into a presentation. We agree on group sizes with you when we draw up the training plan. That keeps Business Central training useful for each person.
