Business Central integration consultant for the systems around it
A Business Central integration consultant decides, before anything is built, which system owns each record. We then pick the direction the data moves. We connect Shopify, your CRM, EDI partners, banks and warehouses with standard APIs and supported connectors. That way, every Microsoft update leaves your connections running.

One owner for every record
Most integration trouble starts when two systems both believe they own the customer, the price or the stock level. So we draw a simple map first. It shows the system of record for each item, the direction of the sync and how often it runs. You agree to it before we build.
The same map tells your team where to fix a wrong address or price. As a result, you get far fewer support calls after go-live.
Map your systems →
- ✓System of record per entity
- ✓Direction of each sync
- ✓Trigger or schedule
- ✓Error handling and alerts
- ✓Who fixes what
Shopify and other web stores
Business Central includes a Shopify Connector. It syncs products, prices, stock, customers and orders. We set it up for your catalog, locations and payment flow. Then we add an extension only where the connector stops short.
For other web stores and marketplaces, we compare the AppSource connectors against a custom build on the Business Central APIs. Then we recommend the option that is cheaper to live with, not only cheaper to start.
Connect your store →- ✓Products and prices
- ✓Stock by location
- ✓Orders into sales documents
- ✓Customers and addresses
- ✓Refunds and returns
CRM data your sales and finance teams both trust
Dynamics 365 Sales connects to Business Central through Dataverse with a standard integration. Salesforce, HubSpot and other CRMs connect through the Business Central APIs. For those, we use a connector or an integration platform.
We keep the split simple. The CRM owns leads and opportunities. Business Central owns customers once they buy. Then credit limits, balances and order status flow back. So a salesperson can answer a customer without calling finance.
Plan your CRM link →
- ✓Accounts to customers
- ✓Quotes to sales orders
- ✓Balances and credit status back
- ✓Item and price lists
- ✓Contact ownership rules
EDI, 3PL warehouses and banks
Many retailers and distributors require EDI for orders, ship notices and invoices. Business Central does not include EDI out of the box. So we set up an established AppSource EDI app, or a provider you already use. Then we map each trading partner document.
Third-party warehouses swap shipments and receipts through files or APIs. Banks connect through bank feeds and payment files. We set up each link with a clear error queue. That way, nothing fails quietly.
Scope your EDI →- ✓EDI orders, ship notices and invoices
- ✓3PL shipments and receipts
- ✓Bank feeds and reconciliation
- ✓Payment export files
- ✓Carrier labels and tracking
What a Business Central integration consultant builds on
We build on the Business Central API v2.0, OData web services and webhooks. For lighter flows, we use Power Automate, because business users can adjust the logic later. We write custom endpoints as AL extensions. We never change the base application.
Next, we test every connection in a sandbox against the release preview. As a result, a twice-yearly update never arrives as a surprise on your live company.
Ask how we would build it →
- ✓API v2.0 and OData
- ✓Webhooks for real-time events
- ✓Power Automate flows
- ✓AL extensions for custom endpoints
- ✓Release preview testing
Business Central integration questions
What does a Business Central integration consultant do?
A Business Central integration consultant designs and builds the links between Business Central and your other systems. First, they decide which system owns each record. Then they build the sync and add monitoring. So when a sync fails, someone notices and fixes it fast, long before your customers or finance team feel it.
Does Business Central connect to Shopify without an add-on?
Yes. Microsoft includes a Shopify Connector in Business Central online. It covers products, stock, customers and orders. We set it up for how you sell, including your locations and payment flow. If your store needs more, we add a small extension instead of replacing the connector.
Can a Business Central integration consultant add EDI?
Yes, but not with Business Central alone. EDI comes from an AppSource app or an EDI provider. We help you choose one that supports your trading partners. Then we map each document, such as orders, ship notices and invoices. We also test each partner before you go live.
Will integrations break when Business Central updates?
Not if they use supported APIs and extensions. Even so, we test against the release preview in a sandbox before each major update reaches your live company. That way, we find a problem early. Then we fix it while your users keep working in the live system without any change.
Should we use Power Automate or custom code?
Power Automate suits simple, low-volume flows that business users may change. However, high-volume or complex logic belongs in an AL extension or an integration platform. We recommend one per flow. As your Business Central integration consultant, we also explain the trade-offs, so you can maintain the result.
