Business Central Stripe integration that posts and reconciles itself
A Business Central Stripe integration lets customers pay an invoice by card or bank debit from a link. Then it writes the payment back against the right customer entry. We connect the two systems. So charges, refunds, processing fees and payouts all land in the ledger. Nobody retypes a Stripe export into a journal.

What a Business Central Stripe integration does for invoices
Stripe is a payment processor, and Business Central has no connector for it out of the box. We make the link with an AppSource connector or with a small extension. The extension talks to the Stripe API. Either way, the goal is the same. A posted sales invoice carries a payment link. The customer pays on a hosted Stripe page.
When the charge succeeds, Stripe notifies Business Central. Then the system creates a payment and applies it to that invoice. The customer ledger entry closes on its own. The receivables aging stays honest. As a result, your team stops chasing people who have already paid. Nobody has to mark anything as paid.

When connecting Stripe is worth the effort
Of course, you can key a handful of card payments a month by hand. The case for integration starts when the finance team downloads a Stripe report every morning. They split out fees in a spreadsheet. Then they type a cash receipt journal line by line. That routine is slow, and it breaks the day someone is on leave.
It also matters when Stripe sits behind a web shop, a subscription tool or a customer portal. Your invoices count too. Several sources can feed one Stripe account. Then the payout is hard to explain, unless each charge carries a reference Business Central can recognize. Integration supplies that reference.

- ✓Payouts that never match
- ✓Fees buried in revenue
- ✓Refunds tracked by email
- ✓Several storefronts, one processor
How we build the Business Central Stripe integration
First, we map every Stripe event you use to a Business Central document. A charge becomes a payment. Next, a refund becomes a credit memo application. A dispute becomes a reversal. Finally, a payout becomes a bank transfer. Then we decide whether an existing connector covers that map or whether a custom AL extension is the cleaner answer.
We build in a sandbox against Stripe test mode, so no real card is touched. Next, we run full days of mixed transactions through it. We compare the ledger to the Stripe balance report line for line. Only then do we point the production company at live keys.

Business Central Stripe integration: payouts, fees and refunds
Stripe pays out a net amount: gross charges less fees, refunds and disputes. We post gross receipts to a Stripe clearing account. Fees go to an expense account. The payout posts as a transfer from clearing to the bank. The clearing account returns to zero when everything has settled, which gives your controller a simple test.
Card data never enters Business Central. We store only tokens, references and amounts. That keeps the ERP outside the scope of card handling rules. Multi-currency accounts get their own clearing account per currency so exchange differences are visible instead of hidden. Finance sees them each month.

Mistakes we design out from the start
The most common fault is a payment that arrives without an invoice number. For example, a customer pays two invoices in one charge. We give those a holding route. The payment posts on account and appears on a short list. A person then applies it. So nothing fails silently, and nothing gets a guess.
The second is duplicate posting when Stripe retries a notification. We store each event with its Stripe identifier and process it once. Also, a daily job queue task checks for events Business Central missed during an outage. It pulls them in. Gaps close without anyone noticing them.
Have us check your setup →- ✓One posting per Stripe event
- ✓Holding list for payments with no match
- ✓Missed event catch-up job
- ✓Partial payment handling

Business Central Stripe integration questions
Does Business Central connect to Stripe by default?
No. Business Central ships with a payment services framework and a few processor extensions, but Stripe is not one of them. The connection comes from an AppSource connector or a custom extension built on the Stripe API. We help you choose between the two.
Will customer card numbers be stored in Business Central?
No. Customers enter card details on a page hosted by Stripe. Business Central only receives a reference, the amount and the status. So sensitive card data stays with the processor. It stays out of your ERP database and backups.
How are Stripe fees recorded?
Each payout is split into gross receipts and the fees Stripe deducted. The fees post to an expense account you choose. So revenue and receivables show the full invoice amount. The bank account shows the net deposit that arrived.
Can refunds be issued from Business Central?
Yes, if we build the integration for it. A posted sales credit memo can trigger a refund through Stripe against the original charge. The refund then applies to the credit memo. So the customer balance and the Stripe balance stay in step.
What if we also sell through Shopify?
The built-in Shopify connector brings orders and payout information into Business Central on its own. We keep that flow separate from direct invoice payments through Stripe. Each has its own clearing account. So you can reconcile each channel without untangling the other. That keeps your Business Central Stripe integration clean.
