Business Central ecommerce integration between your store and your ERP
Business Central ecommerce integration links your online store to the system that holds your items, stock and accounting. So an order placed on the web becomes a sales order without anyone keying it in. Our consultants connect Shopify through the built-in connector. They connect other platforms through add-ons or APIs. They also make sure the money reconciles as well as the orders.

What a Business Central ecommerce integration moves
Four kinds of data travel between a store and the ERP. Item details, prices and images go out to the storefront. Available stock goes out too, so the site does not sell what you do not have. Orders and customers come in. Shipment and tracking details go back to the shopper.
A fifth kind is often forgotten, and that is payments. The store's payment provider pays you in batches with fees deducted. Those payouts have to match the orders in the ledger. An integration that stops at the sales order leaves finance with a manual reconciliation every week.

When manual entry stops working for Business Central ecommerce
A shop with a few orders a day can rekey them. The trouble begins when volume grows or when you add a second sales channel. It also begins when you sell the same stock both online and to trade customers. Overselling, late shipments and mismatched prices follow quickly.
Seasonal peaks expose the weakness most sharply. If every web order needs a person to copy it into the ERP, the busiest week of the year is also the week with the most typing errors. So connect the systems before the peak. That is far calmer than doing it during the rush.
Get ready before peak →- ✓Orders keyed by hand
- ✓Overselling shared stock
- ✓Prices differ between systems
- ✓Multiple sales channels
- ✓Seasonal order spikes
How we connect each store to Business Central
For Shopify, Microsoft includes a connector in Business Central. It syncs products, inventory, customers, orders, fulfillments and payouts. It also supports several shops against one company. Setup is mostly mapping. Which location feeds stock? How do tax and shipping charges post? Which customer template applies? We test each mapping with sample orders.
For other platforms such as WooCommerce, Adobe Commerce or BigCommerce, we either set up an existing AppSource connector or build against the Business Central APIs. The choice depends on how standard your store is. It also depends on how much custom logic has to cross over, such as bundles or customer-specific pricing.

- ✓Marketplace connector apps
- ✓Standard Business Central APIs
- ✓Custom API pages in AL
- ✓Middleware where it helps
What our Business Central ecommerce integration delivers
You end up with orders that arrive in Business Central on their own. They carry the right customer, tax, shipping charge and payment method. Stock on the site follows what the warehouse can really ship. Fulfillment in the ERP sends the tracking number back to the store.
We document each mapping, including the awkward ones. These are gift cards, discounts, partial refunds, returns and orders paid in another currency. We hand over a test script that covers those cases. So your team can run it again after a store theme change or a Business Central update.

- ✓Tax and shipping setup
- ✓Refund and return handling
- ✓Payout reconciliation routine
- ✓Reusable test script
Where store integrations go wrong
Item data causes most failures. Suppose the store and the ERP do not share a reliable key, such as a SKU or barcode. Then orders arrive with lines that cannot be matched. Cleaning item numbers, variants and units of measure before you connect saves a great deal of trouble later.
Tax is the other sore point. The store works out tax at checkout, and Business Central works it out again on the order. Small rounding gaps appear. We decide with your accountant which system is the authority. Then we set the other to follow it. We write that decision down.
Check your item data →- ✓Matching SKUs or barcodes
- ✓Variant structure agreed
- ✓Units of measure aligned
- ✓Tax authority decided
- ✓Stock location chosen
Business Central ecommerce integration questions
Which ecommerce platforms work with Business Central?
For Business Central ecommerce integration, Shopify has a connector from Microsoft built into the product. Most other well-known platforms can connect through third-party connector apps or through the Business Central APIs. The practical question is how much of your store's behavior is standard. We look at that first.
Which system should be the master for item data?
Usually Business Central holds item numbers, costs, stock and base prices. The store holds marketing content such as descriptions and images. What matters is that each field has one owner. Then an update in one place never overwrites the other. We write the owner of each field into the plan.
How often does stock synchronize to the store?
It depends on the connector. Sync typically runs as a scheduled job queue entry at an interval you set, and some events can go out sooner. We choose a frequency that protects against overselling without loading the system more than needed. We then watch it in the first weeks.
Can business customers order online at their own prices?
Yes, with some design work. Shopify offers company accounts and catalogs that the connector can work with, and customer portals are another route. Customer-specific prices and payment terms held in Business Central can carry across. So trade buyers see their own terms.
What happens to web orders if the connection drops?
Orders stay safely in the store and import when the connection returns. A well-built Business Central ecommerce integration logs every failure and alerts someone, so nothing is silently lost. We set up that monitoring as part of the project. Then your team knows at once when something needs a look.
