Business Central DocuSign integration for signed quotes and contracts
A Business Central DocuSign integration lets a user send a quote, order confirmation or agreement for electronic signature from the document page. The signed PDF and its status then come back to the same record. We set it up so signatures stop living in inboxes. You can then find every signed paper from the transaction it belongs to.

What a Business Central DocuSign integration adds
Business Central can email a document as a PDF, but it does not collect a signature. DocuSign does. The integration joins them. A button on the sales quote creates a DocuSign envelope from the report layout. It addresses the envelope to the contact on the document and places the signature field where your template expects it.
As the recipient opens and signs, the status in Business Central changes from sent to delivered to completed. The finished document is attached to the quote or order. An optional rule can turn an accepted quote into an order with no manual step.

Documents worth signing with a Business Central DocuSign integration
Sales quotes and blanket orders are the usual starting point, because a signature there commits revenue. Service contracts, rental agreements and statements of work follow. On the purchasing side, some companies ask vendors to countersign purchase orders or subcontract terms. Each one benefits from a clear record.
Internal papers benefit too. Examples are credit applications from new customers, fixed asset disposal forms and policy forms for new staff. Each is a report or Word layout in Business Central already. So adding a signature step is a matter of tagging where the signer and date fields go.

Three ways to connect a Business Central DocuSign integration
Power Automate includes a DocuSign connector and a Business Central connector. A flow can create an envelope when a quote is released and write the result back. This suits straightforward cases and keeps the logic visible to a power user. Changes need no developer.
AppSource add-ons offer a packaged experience with buttons and status fields already built. A custom AL extension that uses the DocuSign API is the third path. We choose it when signing rules are unusual. Examples are several signers in order, different templates per customer type, or signatures that must gate posting.

- ✓Template complexity
- ✓Volume of envelopes
- ✓Who maintains it

How we build the Business Central DocuSign integration
We begin with one document and one signer. We prove it from end to end in a sandbox with a DocuSign developer account. Then we show it to the people who will use it. Seeing a real quote come back signed settles most design questions faster than a specification would.
From there we add templates, signing order, reminders and the write-back rules. Then we set permissions so only the right roles can send or void. We store signed files as document attachments. If you already keep customer files in SharePoint, we store them there, with a link on the record.

Details that decide if a Business Central DocuSign integration gets used
A quote changed after sending is the usual snag. If someone edits a line while the envelope is out, the signed copy no longer matches the record. We lock the document while it awaits signature. Or we void the envelope when it is reopened, whichever your sales team prefers.
The second snag is the wrong recipient. Envelopes should go to a contact with signing authority, not whoever placed the inquiry. We add a signer field on the customer or document, so the address is deliberate. We also add a fallback that asks the user when the field is blank.
Raise your edge cases →- ✓Document locked while out
- ✓Auto-void on reopen
- ✓Named signer per customer
- ✓Expiry and reminders
- ✓Audit trail kept with record
Business Central DocuSign integration questions
Do we need a particular DocuSign plan?
You need a plan that permits API or connector use, which not every entry-level plan does. We check your current DocuSign subscription against the route chosen. We tell you plainly if an upgrade from DocuSign would be needed, and we say so before any work begins, so nothing comes as a surprise.
Can a signed quote become an order automatically?
Yes. When the envelope reaches completed status, Business Central can run the standard make-order action, with an approval workflow first if you wish. Many clients prefer a note to the salesperson at first. Then they switch on full automation once they trust the process. We set it up either way.
Where is the signed document stored?
By default it is an attachment on the Business Central record. That follows the document from quote to order to posted invoice. Does your company file customer paperwork in SharePoint or OneDrive? Then we store it there and keep a link on the record. Either way, the signed copy is one click from the transaction.
Can several people sign in sequence?
Yes. DocuSign supports routing order, so a customer can sign first and your sales manager can countersign after. We define that order in the template. Or we pass it from Business Central, depending on whether it changes by document type or customer. So the right people sign in the right order.
Does it work for documents in other languages?
It does. Business Central prints the layout in the customer's language when one is set, and that PDF is what goes into the envelope. DocuSign emails and signing pages can be shown in the recipient's language through its own settings. So a customer abroad can read and sign in a familiar language.
