Business Central Power Apps for focused task screens
Business Central Power Apps are small custom applications that read and write ERP data through Microsoft's connector. They give occasional users one focused screen instead of the full client. We design each one around a single job, such as a purchase request or a stock lookup. Then we build it on Power Apps and connect it securely to your environment.

What Business Central Power Apps are good for
Business Central already has a capable web client and a mobile app. A Power App makes sense when a group of people needs only a sliver of the system. Think of a driver confirming a delivery. Or a supervisor raising a purchase request. Or a technician looking up a part.
A canvas app shows exactly the fields that task needs. It has large buttons and your company's own wording. Phone features such as the camera, location and barcode reader work in it. Besides, it can combine Business Central data with SharePoint lists or Teams in one screen. The ERP remains the system of record throughout.

- ✓Purchase requests from staff
- ✓Stock and price lookup
- ✓Delivery confirmation with photo
- ✓Simple inventory counts
- ✓Customer visit notes
How an app connects to Business Central
Canvas apps reach Business Central through the same Microsoft connector that Power Automate uses. The app picks an environment and a company. Then it reads and writes through API tables. Each person signs in with their own account. So the permission sets assigned in Business Central decide what the app can show them.
A second route goes through Dataverse. Business Central tables can be exposed there as virtual tables. That lets model-driven apps and other Power Platform tools work with live ERP data. We choose the route by looking at who will use the app. Beyond that, we weigh how much data it touches and what you already run.

- ✓Connector or virtual tables
- ✓Standard or custom API pages
- ✓Online only or offline capable
- ✓Phone, tablet or desktop layout
Designing Business Central Power Apps people will use
We design with the people who will hold the device. Each app does one task, with as few taps as possible. It has sensible defaults and clear messages when something is refused. A request form that takes a moment gets used. One that mirrors every field of a purchase order gets ignored for a phone call.
Data volume shapes the design too. Loading an entire item list onto a phone is slow. So screens filter on the server and search before they display. Where a field does not exist in the standard API, we publish a small custom API page. Then the app fetches only what it needs.

- ✓Few taps to finish
- ✓Search before listing
- ✓Plain error messages
- ✓Defaults from the user's role
When Business Central Power Apps are not the answer
If the users already work in Business Central all day, a separate app adds a second place to look. A page extension, a simplified role center or a personalized view is usually better for them. Warehouse scanning at volume is also better served by a dedicated app designed for handheld devices.
Licensing needs a clear look before building. Everyone who reads or writes Business Central data through an app needs suitable Business Central access. Power Apps also has its own terms for premium connectors. We set out the options for you. Current prices are on Microsoft's site.

- ✓Simplified role center
- ✓Business Central mobile app
- ✓Dedicated warehouse scanning app
- ✓Power Automate approval flow
How we deliver and maintain an app
We prototype quickly, because a working screen draws better feedback than a document. We build the app against a sandbox and let a few real users try it. After adjustments, we package it in a solution for production. Any custom API page it depends on ships as a per-tenant extension alongside it.
The usual pitfalls are an app owned by one person's account and no plan for changes. Another is that nobody checks it after a release wave. So we share ownership with an administrator and document the data it touches. We also retest it on the preview version. You receive the solution file, the extension source and a short user guide.

Business Central Power Apps questions
Can Power Apps connect to Business Central?
Yes. Power Apps includes a Business Central connector from Microsoft. It lets canvas apps read and write data in a chosen environment and company. Business Central tables can also be made available in Dataverse as virtual tables. Model-driven apps then use them. We pick the right route for your Business Central Power Apps project and set it up.
Why not just give everyone the Business Central mobile app?
The mobile app is excellent for people who know the system. For someone who performs one narrow task now and then, a purpose-built screen with five fields is different. It is faster to learn and harder to get wrong than a full role center. We help you judge which group of users needs which tool.
Does an app bypass Business Central permissions?
No. The connector signs in as the person using the app. Business Central then applies that person's permission sets. If they cannot create a purchase document in the client, they cannot create one from the app either. So you keep one set of access rules, and you do not need to build a second one for each app.
Can a Power App work offline?
Canvas apps can store data on the device and send it when a connection returns. But this has to be designed in deliberately, with rules for conflicts. We ask early whether users will be out of coverage, because it changes the build. For some jobs, a simple queue of entries is enough. For others, we advise a different tool.
Who maintains the app after it is built?
You can, with our guide, since small changes to a canvas app need no developer tools. For changes to the underlying API pages, or after a major release, our consultants are available during US business hours. We update and retest the app for you. That keeps your Business Central Power Apps working through every release wave.
